The ISBSG IT Confidence Conference

ISBSG’s Mission

ISBSG’s mission is to support organisations in the planning and estimation of their software projects. To achieve this, it promotes the use of empirical evidence rather than assumptions and opinions to guide decision-making.

What is the IT Confidence Conference?

This year, ISBSG are hosting the annual IT Confidence Conference. The conference is a forum for IT professionals to present innovative ideas and discuss the latest findings in software metrics, and how it is used to effectively support IT project planning.

Conference Presentations

The conference targets two types of contributions:

  • Experience & Insight

    Problem statements and practiced solutions in planning, that use benchmarking to drive strategic decision-making

  • Case Studies

    Discuss how the use of software metrics data can be used to address the challenges faced by organisations regarding cost estimation, agile teams, contracting, etc.

Conference topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The benefits of benchmarking for IT contracts
  • The impact of AI on productivity and delivery speed
  • Using a structured, data-based approach to pricing contracts
  • Approaches for cost-effective and sustainable benchmarking programs
  • Measuring team performance
  • Analysis of delivery speed
  • Approaches to using standardized data for fact-based decision making, especially in agile environments
  • Measuring the value produced by teams, particularly in Agile environments
  • Productivity differences between inhouse and outsourced software development
  • Measuring and comparing productivity for different project types (e.g. Agile vs traditional)
  • Analysis of defect densities
  • Effective software cost estimation
  • Requirements to design effective benchmarking programs to achieve better value management.
  • Benchmarking in SMEs (Small-Medium Enterprises) and VSE (Very Small Entities).
  • Internal and external benchmarking for better strategic, tactical, and operational decision-making.

Important Dates

  • Abstract submission due data: 21st September 2026
  • Notification of acceptance/rejection: 4th October 2026
  • Full presentation submission: 1st November 2026
  • Conference date: 13th November 2026

Presentation Requirements

Presentations must not be longer than 25 slides. A maximum of one slide presenting your organization. No other advertising.

The abstract should not be longer than 1 A4 page. The Conference language is English.
