Evaluation of Effort Estimation Studies That Use ISBSG Data
by Professor Shinji Kusumoto (Osaka University)
17th February 2023 at 9am JST (Japan), 16th February 2023 at 7pm EST (Eastern USA)
Many research studies of effort estimation for software development projects have been conducted using ISBSG data. This webinar will evaluate any differences between replications of these research studies. Consistency in research results will indicate the degree of confidence that ISBSG data can be used when estimating software-effort.
About Shinji Kusumoto
Professor Kusumoto received BE, ME and DE degrees in information/computer sciences from Osaka University in 1988, 1990, and 1993. He is currently a professor at Department of Computer Science, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Osaka University. His research interests include software measurement, software maintenance, and software quality assurance techniques. He is a member of the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IPSJ, IEICE, JSSST, SEA, SPM and JFPUG.

Practical Applications of ISBSG Data
by Harold Van Heeringen (Software metrics consultant)
24th March 2023
9am CET (Europe), 5pm (Japan)
As a consultant in IT Metrics for many years, Harold Van Heeringen has extensively used ISBSG Data. The data has provided a benchmark for the estimation and planning of IT projects, for client organizations. In this webinar, Harold uses his expertise to demonstrate the use of ISBSG data in its 2 forms – in Excel spreadsheet format and from the ISBSG Productivity Data Query Tool.
About Harold Van Heeringen
Harold van Heeringen works for IDC (METRI), as a principal consultant and practice lead for IT Intelligence services (including Estimation & Performance Measurement). Harold is a director on the ISBSG board and a board member of Nesma. He regularly publishes white papers, blogs and articles on software metrics and performance measurement.

Use Value Adjustment Factor (or not)?
by Luigi Buglione (DXC Technology)
27th January 2023
Learn about the origins and objectives of the VAF (Value Adjustment Factor). This presentation also explains ISO’s and IFPUG’s rationale in eliminating VAF from the FPA count. It discusses what replaces VAF in estimated, non-functional product measures
About Luigi Buglione
Luigi is a Measurement & Process Improvement Specialist at DXC Technology in Rome, Italy. He is currently the IFPUG Director for Sizing & International Standard and the President of GUFPI-ISMA (the Italian Software Metrics Association)..

From Albrecht to ISO/IEC 14143-x
by Luigi Buglione (DXC Technology)
9th February 2023
Starting with Allan Albrecht’s first article on Function Point Analysis in 1979, we now have the ISO/IEC 14143-x family of standards. These are the normative standards, in industrial practices, for the intelligent reuse of solutions and techniques. Also discussed is the importance of understanding rationales for “non-VAF” FSM methods since 1998.
