Tools that use the ISBSG data


The following tools have a facility to use the ISBSG project data, or data that are derived from the ISBSG repository. The ISBSG does not endorse or recommend any particular tool or tools. Other tool vendors who wish to collaborate with the ISBSG should email: admin@isbsg.org

Comparative Estimation Tool
The ISBSG Comparative Estimating Tool is an MS Excel based tool that is used to generate estimates of software project effort, delivery rate, duration and speed of delivery.  These estimates are determined from the averages of project delivery rates and speed of delivery for a selection of projects from ISBSG data deemed to be similar to the project for which the estimate is required. A range of estimates is provided: “Optimistic”, “Likely” and “Conservative”.  More information

ExperiencePro
Experience Pro is a tool for assessment and measurement of software. It supports project Managers in all phases of software development from early estimation to final review. Experience Pro utilises the ISBSG and STTF databases of project data.

KnowledgePlan
SPR KnowledgePLAN® is a software tool designed to help plan software projects. KnowledgePLAN® can be used to size projects and then estimate work, resources, schedule, and defects. It can be used to evaluate project strengths and weaknesses to determine their impact on quality and productivity. KnowledgePLAN® automatically generates detailed project schedules based on a variety of customizable work breakdown structures that are fully integrated with Microsoft® Office Project and other planning tools.

Knowledge bases that have been derived from the ISBSG data can be used with KnowledgePLAN®. KnowledgePLAN® is available from Software Productivity Research.
